Genoa, 28–29 March 2026
The programme to enhance the Genoa Node—one of the most strategic infrastructure projects at national level—continues at a steady pace.
As part of the six-tracking works between the Genova Piazza Principe and Genova Brignole stations, the Brignole West Spur was reactivated on 29 March, marking a milestone of major significance for improving the overall functionality of the city’s railway system.
This intervention represents a fundamental step in the upgrading of the Voltri–Brignole corridor, paving the way for subsequent phases of work and supporting increased regularity and capacity of rail operations in the Ligurian capital.
Following the planned service interruption, in place from 16 February to 29 March 2026, which affected part of the upper tracks at Genova Brignole station, a complex reconfiguration of the ACC system was completed during the night between 28 and 29 March. This intervention was necessary to manage the new track layout of tracks X, XI, XII and XIII. At the same time, platform 5 was reopened to passenger service and the South ACCM system was reconfigured—key actions to ensure the full restoration of infrastructure operations.
In this context, FS Engineering played a central role by providing Construction Management and High-Level Supervision activities, supported by its specialised corporate units and working in close coordination with the Client, RFI. This contribution is part of a broader portfolio of interventions that see the company playing a leading role in the Genoa Node, supporting the development of a more modern, efficient and resilient railway system.
The reactivation of the Brignole West Spur not only marks the completion of a complex construction phase, but also represents a further concrete step towards a deeply renewed Genoa Node, capable of meeting future mobility needs and generating long-term value for the territory—once again confirming FS Engineering’s role as a key player in the development of the country’s major strategic infrastructures.
