Environmental monitoring acts as a dynamic tool, providing a precise measure of changes in the state of the environment throughout all phases of project implementation. It delivers the necessary signals to trigger corrective actions if environmental responses diverge from the forecasts established during the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

Direct experience gained in delivering complex infrastructure projects has enabled FS Engineering to acquire specialised expertise in on-site environmental control. This complex investigative process involves the continuous observation and measurement over time of specific chemical, physical, and biological parameters to accurately characterise the environment and detect variations.

Consequently, this activity serves as an effective mechanism for monitoring environmental media potentially affected by the construction, adaptation, and upgrading of infrastructure, whilst providing invaluable evidence to resolve potential disputes throughout the pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases.

Monitoring is carried out through meticulous measurements and surveys covering all primary environmental components—including atmosphere, noise, vibrations, electromagnetic fields, water, soil, vegetation, fauna, and the social environment—ensuring timely interventions to restore baseline environmental conditions.

Finally, all survey results are managed via a georeferenced database, keeping both private and institutional stakeholders informed in real time.

FS Engineering carries out field surveys to characterise rail emissions and existing ambient noise, alongside conducting acoustic testing of mitigation measures.
