FS Engineering maps its primary stakeholder network across the institutions, local communities, and passengers who utilize the completed infrastructure assets. This ecosystem encompasses the strategic partners driving our operations—ranging from core clients and supply chain vendors to industry associations, universities, and research institutions collaborating on the advancement, promotion, and dissemination of sustainability issues. To formalize and structure these vital interfaces, FS Engineering has adopted dedicated Guidelines for Stakeholder Engagement. This framework functions alongside proprietary methodologies designed to rigorously analyse, track, and monitor the long-term social impacts of our infrastructure schemes.
LISTENING
From the very moment design alternatives are formulated, an innovative social web monitoring and sentiment analysis platform—co-developed by FS Engineering and FSTech—is deployed to identify key sustainability issues. This digital tool assists engineers in tailoring their dialogue with the local communities hosting the infrastructure schemes. It is also embedded within broader research frameworks where, alongside traditional surveys and questionnaires, it forms part of our core toolkit for measuring the social acceptance of innovative technical solutions, as demonstrated in the European MostH2 project.
DIALOGUE
FS Engineering is actively involved in formal public debate procedures, defined as a structured process of information, participation, and discussion regarding infrastructure works of national interest under Prime Ministerial Decree No. 76 of 10 May 2018 and Legislative Decree No. 36 of 31 March 2023. Throughout 2024, the Company provided comprehensive support to clients during these statutory public debates, contributing to the drafting of Project Reports. INFORMING AND ENGAGING
In the advanced stages of project delivery, FS Engineering deploys specialized initiatives and tools to keep the public continuously informed about construction progress. A primary example, developed in collaboration with our partners across the FS Group, is the Cantieri Parlanti (Talking Construction Sites) scheme, which turns physical sites into informative, public-facing information hubs.
URBAN REGENERATION
Integrating railway infrastructure into the urban fabric allows new schemes to be approached as multi-functional developments. Beyond meeting essential rail transport needs, these projects enhance urban functionality and elevate citizens’ quality of life. Close collaboration with relevant local authorities and municipal administrations provides a strategic opportunity to weave rail transit into overarching masterplans, driving the regeneration of entire urban districts. This approach successfully expands the Group’s scope of operation regarding community engagement and local presence.
