Driven by a highly specialised engineering approach, FS Engineering delivers innovative, high-performance railway signalling solutions that guarantee the highest standards of safety, reliability, and interoperability for both passenger and freight transport. Crucially, the Commissioning team oversees the asset lifecycle for computer-based interlocking (ACC/ACCM) and ERTMS frameworks, steering the process seamlessly from initial design through independent verification to final entry into operational service and post-commissioning support. Throughout these crucial commissioning phases, the team ensures absolute consistency between the approved software configuration and the physical trackside installation, providing expert technical support to Technical Verification Committees.

To de-risk this process, advanced Control, Command and Signalling (CCS) simulation suites have been established. These cutting-edge facilities enable the fully integrated verification of both on-board and trackside systems (ERTMS/ACCM) within a controlled laboratory environment prior to site commissioning, ensuring a comprehensive, systemic validation of the entire railway technology ecosystem.

The simulation room is one of the group’s distinctive features. In this advanced environment, the actual operating conditions of a centralised railway traffic control centre are replicated, enabling dynamic testing of ACC, ACCM and ERTMS systems.

Tests are carried out on emulated workstations that simulate the core components and operator interfaces, making it possible to verify the system’s behaviour against design requirements and regulations, thereby reducing the need for field work and enhancing safety levels.

FIELD TESTING

Field tests include checks inside the driver’s cab, across the station track layout, and across the entire system as a unified network, including interfaces with neighbouring systems and other subsystems, in order to ensure the system’s full integration and flawless operation.
