DAR ES SALAAM–MOROGORO–MAKUTUPORA RAILWAY LINE

FS Engineering supporting the country’s infrastructure development.

FS Engineering reaffirms its commitment to Tanzania’s infrastructure development, contributing to the construction of one of the country’s key strategic railway corridors.

Yapi Merkezi Idis, a technology engineering company within the Yapi Merkezi Group, has entered into a consultancy contract with FS Engineering for the development of signalling and telecommunications systems on the 205 km Dar es Salaam–Morogoro railway line (Lot 1), an integral part of the “Tanzania Central Corridor – Package 1” project. As part of the Preliminary Design phase, the contract involved the development of technical specifications and functional requirements, as well as the design of the signalling system based on ERTMS/ETCS Level 2 and Computer-Based Interlocking (CBI) technology.

Subsequently, FS Engineering was awarded the consultancy services contract for the 344 km Morogoro–Makutupora section (Lot 2), extending its contribution to the entire technological development of the corridor.

The entire project covers over 550 km of electrified railway line, equipped with an ERTMS Level 2 system for passenger and freight traffic, and forms part of a Design & Build contract awarded by RAHCO – Tanzania Railways Corporation to the consortium led by the Turkish construction company Yapi Merkezi.

The work specified in the contracts has been successfully completed, consolidating FS Engineering’s role as a leading technology partner in major international railway projects and contributing to the upgrading of Tanzania’s rail transport system in line with advanced standards of safety, interoperability, and efficiency.
