FREIGHT AND PASSENGER RAIL NETWORK DEVELOPMENT

FS Engineering is actively engaged in several of Brazil’s most prominent rail projects, contributing to the development of strategic freight and passenger networks that drive the country's economic growth and logistical competitiveness.

Açailândia-Barcarena freight rail line

FS Engineering delivered technical assistance to Triunfo Participações e Investimenti—one of Brazil’s most dynamic rail concessionaires—for the design of the 560 km freight railway connecting Açailândia and Barcarena. The project forms a critical component of a major logistics corridor designed to boost freight capacity and reinforce supply chain links between inland production hubs and primary maritime ports.

Sinop–Miritituba freight rail line (Ferrogrão Project)

In partnership with the Brazilian consultancy Logit, FS Engineering provided technical assistance for the development of the approximately 1,000 km Sinop–Miritituba rail corridor traversing the states of Mato Grosso and Pará. Part of a priority route study programme promoted by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), the scope of work encompassed market research for traffic demand forecasting, operational rail simulations, conceptual design for freight terminals and intermodal hubs, and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the long-term financial viability of the future concession.

Passenger Rail Network (Intercidades Project)

FS Engineering delivered technical assistance to a consortium of Brazilian concessionaires—comprising EDLP (Estação da Luz Participações) and CCR—for the "Trens Intercidades" project, a 450 km passenger rail network submitted to the São Paulo State Government as a private initiative. The company was commissioned directly by the São Paulo Government to conduct an independent audit of the scheme, providing expert evaluation on rolling stock selection, operational models, construction sequencing and phasing, mitigation strategies to minimise disruptions to active rail services, and the strategic positioning of maintenance facilities. Following FS Engineering's intervention, the State of São Paulo accepted the consortium's proposal and launched the initial tender for the first phase of the network linking São Paulo and Americana.

The contract has been successfully completed, reinforcing FS Engineering's position as a trusted partner for complex freight and passenger rail infrastructure within high-growth international markets.
