TRANS-ANDEAN TUNNEL PROJECT

FS Engineering, in partnership with leading international engineering consultancies Dohwa and Pini Group, has successfully completed the feasibility study for the "Trans-Andean" rail link on behalf of Peru's Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC). The study defined the delivery framework for three new rail tunnels along the existing 220 km single-track concession line connecting Lima (Callao) to La Oroya, which branches towards Huancayo (124 km) and Cerro de Pasco. The infrastructure navigates a highly complex terrain, characterised by severe morphological and environmental constraints along the Andean axis.

As part of the feasibility study, FS Engineering developed a comprehensive RAMS framework to support the design, construction, and future maintenance phases of the works. The team also contributed to defining the line's operational functionality and provided multidisciplinary expertise for the design of the standard tunnel cross-sections. This approach ensured that safety mandates, operational reliability, and long-term asset sustainability were seamlessly integrated into the project.

The contract concluded in September 2024 with the submission and client approval of the final report, reinforcing FS Engineering's position as a trusted partner for complex international rail projects.
