LIMA METRO

The largest public investment scheme in Peruvian history is strictly "Made in Italy"

The construction of Lima Metro Line 2 is currently Peru's premier infrastructure project. Once fully operational, the rapid transit line will feature a design capacity to transport approximately 660,000 passengers per day.

FS Engineering provided technical assistance services to the Metro Lima Line 2 Consortium, the project concessionaire, supporting the development of the infrastructure throughout its entire lifecycle. The project extends over a total of 35 km of tunnels, including 27 km along the east-west corridor and 8 km on the branch line between Avenida Elmer Faucett and Avenida Néstor Gambetta. It comprises 35 stations, of which 13 are located in the El Callao area and 22 within the city of Lima.

The stations were constructed using different engineering methods, including cut-and-cover and conventional tunnelling techniques, and are designed to accommodate driverless trains, ensuring high standards of safety and operational efficiency.

The contract, which lasted 66 months beginning in April 2015, involved the continuous presence in Lima of five dedicated on-site professionals, supported by a team of technical specialists based in Rome. The assignment was successfully completed in 2021.
