HRVATSKI LESKOVAC–KARLOVAC RAILWAY LINE

FS Engineering is consolidating its presence in the Balkans with a major contract awarded in Croatia as part of the European Railway Vb Corridor, a strategic axis linking Rijeka, Zagreb and Budapest.

FS Engineering, acting as lead partner of the consortium formed with Technital and IRD Engineering, has been awarded the contract by HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o. (Croatian Railways Infrastructure Ltd.) for design services relating to an approx. 60-km-long section of the line. The contract was 85 per cent funded by the European Union through the IPA pre-accession funds and the remaining 15 per cent from the Croatian national budget.

The work, carried out over a three-year period, involved the preparation of the detailed design and construction drawings for the doubling of the line between Hrvatski, Leskovac and Karlova stations, stretching for approximately 45 km. The services provided included an environmental impact assessment, a transport study, and a cost-benefit analysis of the planned works.

The project concluded with the drafting of the tender specifications and the preparation of the documentation required to apply for funding from the European Commission, contributing to the upgrading of the Croatian rail network and the development of connections along one of the main transport corridors in Central and Eastern Europe.
