LUSAIL TRAM NETWORK

The project is situated in the State of Qatar’s newly developed waterfront city of Lusail, located approximately 15 km north of the capital, Doha

Designed as a sustainable and self-sufficient community, Lusail integrates residential and commercial zones, schools, healthcare facilities, business centres, and leisure districts. The new Lusail Light Rail Transit (LLRT) network forms the backbone of the city’s urban transport framework, offering an environmentally friendly, integrated mode of travel. The system is engineered to connect the various districts of Lusail with one another and seamlessly interface with Doha via an interchange station linking to the capital’s metro network.

FS Engineering operated as part of a consortium alongside leading international partners, providing project management consultancy (PMC) and technical assistance services for the delivery of the new tram network.

The contract encompassed the completion of civil works, the installation of technological and utility plant systems, the development of maintenance depots, and the supply of rolling stock. The transit infrastructure comprises four lines—Orange, Pink, Turquoise, and Purple—totalling 33 km in length, including a 10 km underground section and 28 stations.

Phase One of 14 stations began operating in 2022, with the remaining 14 stations opening in 2024 to complete the initial rollout of the Pink and Orange lines. The Turquoise and Purple lines have not yet started operating.
