Rome, 20 October 2026
FS Engineering took part in the presentation of the OICE 2026 Report on the international presence of engineering, architecture and technical consultancy companies, held on 20 October at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome.
The event brought together representatives from institutions and leading industry organisations to discuss data, strategies and prospects for Italian engineering in international markets, with particular attention to geopolitical challenges and the opportunities offered by high-potential non-EU markets.
FS Engineering was represented by Irene Gionfriddo, International Director, who took part in the panel “Action Plan for Exports to High-Potential Non-EU Markets: Opportunities for Engineering, Architecture and Technical Consultancy Companies”.
The discussion focused on FS Engineering’s international experience. The company currently operates across five continents, with experience gained in more than 40 countries. Particular attention was given to India, a market where the company has been operating for over ten years, with offices in New Delhi and Mumbai and more than 140 professionals engaged in ongoing projects.
This presence has been built over time through involvement in some of the country’s major rail and public transport projects, from the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System to the Kanpur, Agra and Mumbai metro systems, as well as railway programmes in the Himalayan region. These projects have helped consolidate the company’s role in project management consultancy and the supervision of major railway infrastructure projects.
In her remarks, Gionfriddo highlighted the prospects associated with the growth of infrastructure demand in India, identifying three main areas for development: high-speed rail and rail services operating at speeds of up to 250 km/h, dedicated freight corridors and mass transit systems. The market offers a significant volume of opportunities, while also presenting challenging economic conditions for European companies.
Against this backdrop, the importance of the Italian national system as a means of supporting companies in priority markets emerged as a key theme. Stronger cooperation between companies and institutions, together with the support of Embassies and other institutional bodies, can help facilitate access to decision-making centres, improve understanding of regulatory frameworks and strengthen the positioning of Italian expertise in international markets.
FS Engineering’s participation in the presentation of the OICE International Report therefore forms part of the ongoing dialogue between institutions and businesses on the strategies needed to turn the opportunities offered by global markets into tangible growth opportunities for Italian engineering.
