Projects Rail Baltica and the Cantiere Sicuro e Digitale’ (safe and digital construction site) were honoured, symbolising Italian excellence in integrated and high-tech engineering within the FS Italiane Group
Rome, June 17, 2026
Following its success in 2025 in the ‘A2’ ESG/Sustainability category, FS Engineering returns to the podium at the OICE 2026 awards, consolidating its position amongst the leading players in Italian engineering worldwide.
On Wednesday 17 June, against the splendid backdrop of Palazzo Brancaccio in Rome, in the presence of over 500 guests, the awards ceremony for the fourth edition of the OICE Italian Engineering and Architecture Awards took place.
Out of around 200 entries received, FS Engineering stood out among the 17 award-winning companies, securing two major accolades and receiving the iconic Lego brick in the ‘B – Transport Infrastructure Projects’ category for its contribution to the Rail Baltica project (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) and in the ‘A – Works Supervision and Site Safety’ category for the ‘Drones, Reality Capture and BIM for Construction Management’ project.
This achievement confirms the company’s role as a ‘driver’ in the strategic sector of digital governance of both physical and virtual construction sites, and its vision of combining an international outlook with advanced engineering expertise, thereby contributing to the development of major strategic, innovative and sustainable projects for green socio-economic development.
The two prestigious awards were collected by FS Engineering’s senior management, represented by the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager, Dario Lo Bosco, the Director of International Operations, No Captive, Business Affairs and Sustainability, Irene Gionfriddo, and the Director of Infrastructure BIM Management & Project Control, Daniela Aprea.
Among its many overseas activities, FS Engineering is currently involved in the Rail Baltica project, the most significant greenfield railway project in Northern Europe and a strategic axis of the TEN-T network. In a joint venture with international partners, it acts as the Engineer for the Energy (ENE) and Control, Command and Signalling (CCS) subsystems, supporting the entire project lifecycle with its own high-tech platforms – from design to commissioning – in accordance with FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) standards. The infrastructure, approximately 870 km long, will connect the Baltic States to the rest of Europe, promoting more efficient, interoperable and integrated mobility, and optimising EU relations.
The other prestigious award conferred on the ‘Drones, Reality Capture and BIM for Construction Management’ project mirrors not only FS’s commitment to international projects but, above all, its dedication to developing digital construction sites and safety in pursuit of the ‘zero workplace fatalities’ objective, in collaboration with MIT and ANSFISA, starting with the NRRP. Between 2023 and 2026, FS Engineering systematically introduced advanced technologies – including drones (UAVs), LiDAR surveys and advanced BIM modelling (3D and up to 8D) – integrated into collaborative cloud platforms. This has led to significant benefits in terms of safety, risk prevention, work monitoring, process traceability and faster decision-making, thereby avoiding delays and additional costs borne by the taxpayer.
This double victory on the OICE 2026 podium reinforces FS Engineering’s position as a key strategic and digital player in the sector’s transformation, committed to delivering large-scale infrastructure projects that are increasingly sustainable and high-tech, and to promoting engineering excellence in the international contexts where it operates across 15 branches, thereby showcasing Italian know-how.
