FS Engineering awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal

In August 2026, FS Engineering was awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal, placing it among the top 15% of companies worldwide assessed by the rating for sustainability performance. The result, marking an improvement compared with the previous year’s assessment, confirms the Company’s continuous improvement journey and the progressive integration of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria into its business processes, also supported by the SA8000 certification of its Social Accountability Management System.

What is EcoVadis?

EcoVadis is currently one of the world’s leading providers of corporate sustainability ratings, with more than 100,000 companies assessed across over 175 countries and hundreds of business sectors. Its methodology is based on international standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines, the United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000, and is validated by an independent scientific committee.

The assessment evaluates company performance across four key areas:

  • Environment
  • Labor and Human Rights
  • Ethics
  • Sustainable Procurement

For each area, the maturity of the management system is assessed on the basis of formalised policies, concrete actions, measurable results and supporting documentation reviewed by EcoVadis analysts. The overall score determines the medal awarded (Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum): the Silver Medal is awarded to companies ranking among the top 15% in terms of performance compared with companies assessed in the same sector.

FS Engineering’s second year of assessment: sustainable procurement

In its second year of assessment, showing continued improvement compared with last year’s Bronze rating, initiatives in the area of sustainable procurement played a particularly significant role in improving the Company’s score, through the progressive strengthening of supplier qualification, engagement and monitoring systems. These initiatives aim to structurally integrate sustainability principles throughout the entire value chain, starting with upstream operations, where procurement choices have an impact on the overall sustainability of business activities and the quality of engineering services.

Human resources, ethics and integrity

The rating also recognised FS Engineering’s focus on human resources, including HR policies and indicators, as well as the robustness of the measures adopted to promote business ethics and integrity.

Environment and GHG emissions reporting

As in the first year of assessment, EcoVadis recognised FS Engineering’s commitment to monitoring and reporting environmental performance, with particular reference to the measurement and disclosure of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Consolidating rigorous measurement methodologies and a traceable information base provides an essential foundation for guiding decision-making processes, setting verifiable reduction targets and assessing the effectiveness of the actions undertaken over time.

An ongoing commitment

For an engineering company focused on the design and delivery of infrastructure, sustainability ratings are an important tool and an increasingly common requirement among clients, partners and contracting authorities across supply chains. The annual assessment not only highlights the Company’s strengths but also provides specific guidance on areas for improvement, supporting an ongoing cycle of progress.

This result confirms FS Engineering’s commitment to strengthening sustainability-oriented governance based on data, transparency and continuous improvement, fully aligned with the objectives and values of the Gruppo FS.
