RECONMATIC: from waste to value

Workshop and Final Conference

What if construction waste wasn’t waste at all, but a valuable resource?

Turning construction and demolition waste into a strategic resource for a more sustainable, digital and circular infrastructure sector: this is the vision at the heart of RECONMATIC (Automated solutions for sustainable and circular construction and demolition waste management), a European project funded under the Horizon Europe programme (Grant Agreement No. 101058580), in which FS Engineering takes part as the only Italian partner by contributing to the development of innovative solutions for the circular management of materials thanks to the contribution of colleagues from the Departments “Infrastructure BIM Management & Project Control”, “International, No Captive, Business Affairs and Sustainability Management” and “Engineering & Operations”..

Four years of research, testing and international cooperation mark the project’s journey towards its final phase, characterised by a strong commitment to sharing results, engaging with stakeholders and disseminating the knowledge produced.

Within this framework, two key events represent central milestones to showcase the technical and scientific contribution of the project partners, including FS Engineering: an Italian national workshop and the international final conference.

The Workshop

On 7 May 2026, the workshop dedicated to presenting the project and its main results will take place. The initiative is part of RECONMATIC’s dissemination and training activities and is aimed at professionals in the construction and infrastructure sector, public authorities, researchers, academics, and stakeholders interested in circular economy and sustainability issues.

During the workshop, the solutions developed to reduce waste generation, increase material reuse and recycling, and support the transition of the sector towards low‑environmental‑impact industrial models will be explored in depth—areas in which FS Engineering is actively engaged through its engineering, digital and systemic expertise.

Participation is open to all interested parties, in online format, by registering at the following LINK

The international final conference

The results‑sharing pathway will culminate in the RECONMATIC Final Conference – “From Waste to Value: Digital and Automated Solutions for Circular Construction”, scheduled for 27–28 May 2026, online, with connection from Prague.

The conference will represent an important opportunity for discussion at European level on the overall results of the project and on the role of digitalisation and automation in circular construction. Over the two days, researchers, companies, policymakers and innovators will address key topics such as:

  • digital solutions for the reduction and prevention of construction and demolition waste;
  • automated systems for managing end‑of‑life buildings;
  • innovation strategies for digitalising the sector;
  • technologies for C&D waste sorting and automation;
  • life‑cycle management and assessment;
  • the RECONMATIC training platform for circular construction.
