IA: Driving Innovation, Creating Sustainable Value

Intelligence becomes a System. Another step toward ISO 42001 Certification

FS Engineering accelerates its digital transformation roadmap by initiating the formal process of certification of its Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) in accordance with the ISO 42001:2023 international standard, the World’s premier regulatory framework dedicated to the governance of AI systems.

As part of this deployment, FS Engineering recently cleared its Stage 1 audit, during which the accredited certification body issued a favourable overall assessment, officially confirming the Company’s readiness to advance to the final Stage 2 audit required to achieve full certification.

Adopting the ISO 42001 framework represents a strategic milestone that positions FS Engineering as an industry pioneer in responsible Artificial Intelligence deployment. The Company is dedicated to developing and using AI solutions under strict ethical, secure, and transparent parameters, while guaranteeing robust human-in-the-loop oversight, data privacy compliance, and systematic evaluation of societal, health, and occupational safety impacts.

The AIMS was designed to provide a structured governance framework for artificial intelligence projects that optimise business processes. The inaugural application, “GeoAnomaly Sentinel” – developed through a strategic collaboration between the Archaeology Operational Unit and the startup Grid+ based at La Sapienza University of Rome – is fully integrated within this framework. The project deploys advanced data analytics and machine learning techniques to automate the detection of subsurface archaeological anomalies, significantly driving the efficiency and sustainability of geophysical survey operations.

Underscoring the Company’s commitment, on June 4, 2026, FS Engineering formally adopted its “Artificial Intelligence Management System Policy, which establishes the foundational principles for the responsible deployment of AI, in strict alignment with its mission and the overarching FS Group guidelines. On the same date, the Company set up its dedicated AI Team tasked with ensuring the effective implementation, monitoring, and systematic optimisation of the AI Management System (AIMS), in compliance with the ISO 42001 standard.

The AI Team has already convened to define the strategic guidelines and the operational roadmap required to achieve certification, initiating a roll-out process that will progressively engage the entire organisation. As part of this effort, an e-learning training module will be launched for all personnel, with the aim of raising awareness of the standard and embedding a corporate culture centred on the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence.

The path toward ISO 42001 certification serves to solidify FS Engineering’s strategic market positioning, translating the core objectives of its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan into actionable workflows for the innovative, responsible, and sustainable management of artificial intelligence.
