The contact line system consists of a network of conductors and support structures installed along the line, ensuring the correct power supply to the rolling stock for electric traction.

On 3 kV DC lines, the catenary forms part of a meshed electrical network managed by ultra-fast circuit breakers and isolators, which ensure robust electrical protection and fault selectivity. Motorised, remotely controlled equipment enables dynamic power supply management, rapidly isolating affected sections to minimise the impact of any disruptions. The result is a flexible and resilient system designed to ensure high reliability and continuity of service.

The overhead line equipment for high-speed systems is engineered to guarantee high-quality current collection up to the design speed of 300 km/h. This is achieved by significantly increasing the mechanical tension of the conductors compared to conventional lines. All catenary components have undergone rigorous testing programmes on dedicated test tracks to verify their dynamic behaviour under the repeated mechanical stresses generated by passing high-speed trains.
